CONCEPT
In 2024, Grado collaborates with designer KK from KL Design to create a modern midcentury-style chair that brings unique cultural elements into the home. With a background in journalism, KK infuses her appreciation for the environment and her Yi ethnic heritage from Sichuan into her work. Inspired by the Yi people’s ancient sun-based calendar and their reverence for the sun as the source of life, Grado and KK design the Solar Lounge Chair. This chair incorporates Yi cultural symbols, like a spherical ornament at the top, and features limited edition upholstery with handwoven Yi embroidery, showcasing vibrant colors and traditional patterns. Grado hopes to share this ancient craft with the world.
