The Zong Sofa series draws inspiration from the Zong, a traditional Chinese dish made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves, typically enjoyed during the Dragonboat Festival. The geometric design and softness of the Zong were key elements incorporated into the Zong Sofa Pouf’s design.

CONCEPT
Zong is a traditional Chinese festive food made from glutinous rice and bamboo leaves. Its dark green surface, tetrahedron shape, and texture of bamboo leaves are the key aesthetic elements, from which Sisi Hong the designer was enlightened to design the Zong Sofa Series. Sisi abstracted Zong’s color, dark green, and its geometry, and blended them with minimalism into the Zong Sofa Pouf design.

An internationally trained Industrial Designer who graduated from the MID major of the Pratt Institute in New York. She cares about tangible products in daily life that are close enough to people’s daily life and tries to work as a designer to create better products for a better life.
